Yaron Abulafia

For the past 16 years, Yaron Abulafia has designed theatre and dance performances, installations, concerts and television shows internationally.
Aside to his artistic career, he is writing a PhD at Rijks University of Groningen, the Netherlands. The research deals with the Poetics of Light in the Contemporary Theatre and examines the signification and effect on cognition that light has gained within the contemporary theatrical event. He has won the first prize of light design supported by PHILIPS ('Peer Gynt', Romania, 2008), as well as nominations for the Knight of Illumination 2011 (‘Awakening’, Rambert, UK) and the best light design for theatre (Israel, 2011). He holds a Masters degree (MFA) in Scenography and BA in theatre studies and is regularly invited to lecture in various art academies and universities in Europe.
Among his recent collaborations: Ballet Opera Berlin and Dusseldorf, Danza Contemporanea de Cuba, Rambert Dance Company, National Theatre Ballet Prague, Scapino Ballet, Henri Oguike Dance Company, National Dance Company Wales, Dansgroep Amsterdam, Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company.
