Constanza Macras

CONSTANZA MACRAS was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1970 where she danced with various groups while studying contemporary dance and fashion design and developing her personal style. Following her dance education in New York and the presentation of her own performances in  Amsterdam, Constanza Macras moved to Berlin in 1995 to dance for various companies until 1997, when she founded her own company Tamagotchi Y2K (aka Lonely Tamagotchi). In 2003 she founded the dance company CONSTANZA MACRAS | DorkyPark.

In her work Constanza Macras is basically concentrating on human identities and the life in megacities. She is researching on questions as: How is it to live in a megacity? How does globalization change our life and how do identities meet and change under such conditions?

In her dance company CONSTANZA MACRAS | DorkyPark she is gathering dancers, musicians, actors and artists of various genres and countries around her to combine text, video, dance, and sound in her work.

The choreographer and director Constanza Macras, has also taught workshops and master classes in Japan, the United States, India, Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, the Hochschule für Schauspielkunst Ernst Busch and Hochschule für Musik, Berlin. 

In November 2010 Constanza Macras was awarded the German Theater Award DER FAUST in the category for best choreography for the production Megalopolis. DER FAUST is the most important national theatre award in Germany.
