Henrik Hartmann

Henrik Hartmann studied Danish Literature at the University of Copenhagen and worked in several institutions such as The Royal Theatre and Gladsaxe Teater. Since 1992, Henrik Hartmann and Peter Langdal have been the managers of the Betty Nansen Teatret in Copenhagen. Betty Nansen Teatret has a repertoire consisting of classic dramas in modern versions, development of own productions, and musical dramas, of which Woyzeck by Robert Wilson and Tom Waits is undoubtedly the best known, having toured practically worldwide.
In 2001, the theatre launched the Thoughts of the Others, a series of productions focusing on immigrants in Denmark. This concept lead to the launch of C:NTACT, a meeting place for young people of Danish as well as foreign heritage (www.contact.dk ). C:NTACT offers a professional platform for young people’s own stories in four fields: stage, media, education and writing. From 2010 C:NTACT collaborates with Akademie der Künste Berlin on a masters degree in theatre pedagogics.
