Theatre & Globalization

- what is the role of theatre in a globalized world?

According to scholar and playwright Dan Rebllato´s book Theatre & Globalization, theater has a significant part to play in comprehending the phenomenon of globalization.
Following Dan Rebellato there will be tree presentations which puts the ideas into perspective - Søren Møller on music theatre, Kirsten Delholm on visual theater and Theater Grob on text-based drama

Dan Rebellato

Dan Rebellato is an English playwright, teacher and academic. Dan is Professor of Contemporary Theatre and Head of Department at Royal Holloway, University of London and has written numerous articles on modern and contemporary theatre and extensively for radio and the stage. He has twice been nominated for a Sony Award, and writes regularly for The Guardian Theatre Blog. He’s books include 1956 and All That (1999), Theatre & Globalization (2009), Contemporary European Theatre Directors (2010), and The Suspect Culture Book (2013). http://www.danrebellato.co.uk/about/

Kirsten Dehlholm

With a background in the visual arts, Kirsten Dehlholm has worked with performance art since 1977. She is the co-founder of Hotel Pro Forma (1985-) Kirsten Dehlholm’s current work includes concept and direction for Hotel Pro Forma, directing opera, theatre, and performance art internationally, and giving lectures and workshops. Hotel Pro Forma is a production company of performances and exhibitions. Every production is a new experiment and contains a double staging: contents and space. Kirsten Dehlholm and Hotel Pro Forma have received many prestigious awards from important Danish and European Arts Institutions.

Soren is currently writing on a book with the American Tony Award – winning actress Victoria Clark on intuition as a practical tool for the singing actor.
Søren is the initiator of the musical brood box UTERUS nominated for national commissioning of
Ministry of Culture. He is the recipient of Vestfyns Bank Initiative Award 2010 for this initiativ.

Thomas Levin

Actor, playwright and artistic director at Theatre Grob since 2007. As a playwright Thomas have written for Theatre Grobs own stage and is one of the key creators of “The 6th Contint”, Theatre Grobs major work on identity and globalization spanning 6 dramas and continents.



Jesper Pedersen

Creative Avisor at Theatre Grob since 2009. Oversees the production of “The 6th Continent” (2013 – 2017), Theatre Grobs major work on identity and globalization
Jesper also works as a playwright and director. Works include “Club Silencio” (2013), “BLAM”(2012), “Fools of The World Unite!”(2011)
MA. in Comparative Literature from the University of Copenhagen.
