Comedy workshop with Deborah Frances-White

Deborah Frances-White will explore the reasons we get anxious when we perform and create. How can we remove our blocks and learn to trust “our obvious” to access our true talent? She will examine the essential building blocks of story and coach the group towards understanding, deconstructing and creating original narratives.
The workshop will allow participants the chance to play with status relationships – the foundation of so much great comedy and drama. The group will also go deeply into character, spontaneity, playfulness and explore drama as “one person changed by another.”
Deborah Frances-White creates an atmosphere where failure is a fun and important part of the process of understanding and gaining skills and tools. The group will laugh, play, collaborate and learn together.

Deborah Frances-White is a stand-up comedian, corporate speaker, screenwriter and executive coach.
She founded the innovative improvisation company The Spontaneity Shop in 1997 and wrote “The Improv Handbook” (published in 2008) with her partner Tom Salinsky. She is also a Chicago Improvisation Festival Artistic Associate.
