The Public and the Publics - ART and the Urban Society

Imanuel Schipper just curated the conference rearttheurban in Zürich and is working as a freelance dramaturge an artistic researcher at ZDK, Zürich 

The lecture is part of Miriam Frandsen's teaching in the departments of Scenography and Directing at the Danish National School of Performing Arts. Students will be participating.

Imanuel Schipper:

Immanuel Schipper is a dramaturge, lecturer, scientific researcher, curator, producer. In his career as a dramaturge (theatre, dance, opera) he collaborated different times with among others Rimini Protokoll, William Forsythe and Luk Perceval on very successful productions. They were invited on different international festivals, twice as one of the ten best productions of the year to the Theatertreffen Berlin and one was prized with the best theatre stage-play of the season. He was nominated as best up-coming dramaturge in 2003 (Yearbook of Theaterheute).
He adopted different novels for the stage (Magic Mountain, The Notebook,..), curated scientific performative theatre events (Re/Location: Sanatorium, Knowing about the Not-knowing). He teaches at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main (Institute for Theatre-, Film- and Media-Sciences), at the Akademie für Darstellende Kunst Baden-Würtemberg and at the Academy for Physical Theatre Verscio (MA Movement Theatre). At the Zurich University of the Arts he is a teacher, lecturer and researcher at the Departement of Performing Arts (BA and MA Theater), at the MA of Transdisciplinarity and the postgraduated programs MAS Designculture, MAS Scenography and CAS Multiplicity.
He is a member of the Atelier Wissenskünste and the Transdisciplinary Atelier of the ZHdK and organizes different conferences and workshops.

Recently he is Head of Research Project Longing for Authenticity - A Critical Research of the Concept and the Experience
